FAQ
Is this uncopyrighted music?
No — and that is the honest answer. “Uncopyrighted” usually means public domain. Purrple Cat Self Releases are still copyrighted. They are free to use under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) as long as you credit the artist.
Can I use it on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or Twitch?
Yes. Free to use with credit on all social platforms, including monetized videos and livestreams. Self Releases are not registered in Content ID.
Do I have to credit?
Yes. CC BY 4.0 requires attribution. Copy a ready line from the Credit page.
Is this the same as royalty-free or copyright-free?
Not exactly. Royalty-free often still costs money up front. Copyright-free / public domain means no copyright left. Here the music is free under CC BY 4.0 with credit — see the Glossary.
Can I upload the MP3s to Spotify or Apple Music?
No. Neither the music nor remixes, samples or covers may be uploaded to music streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music or YouTube Music, because that causes false Content ID claims.
Is any of this made with AI?
No. No AI is used in Purrple Cat music or art.
Are there vocals?
Almost everything is instrumental. The Memories EP and Please Hold Me have vocals; the shelves leave them out so nothing talks over your voice.
